2012 Las Madres Syrah
Los Carneros - Sonoma County
Our 2012 Las Madres Vineyard Syrah is an excellent follow up to our beautifully balanced and acclaimed 2011 version, again utilizing nearly equal parts of the Hulda and Esther blocks, but this time showcasing the power and concentration that can be achieved in a drier more even keeled vintage like 2012. The nose leads with ripe red and blue fruits, baking spices, smoky game, and a tinge of black olive. On the palate savory flavors of cooked bacon, toasted oak, olives and boysenberry compote complement the wine's sweet tannins, sustaining acids, and smooth mouth feel. Cellar this wine for two to three years and enjoy over the next decade.
