2009 Les Amours Syrah
Santa Barbara County
VIE is all about "enjoying life", Les Amours is all about the "loves" in life. The 2009 Les Amours embraces this philosophy by blending Syrah from the Thompson and White Hawk vineyards with a little Mourvèdre for structure. The wine has dark, black earthy notes up-front and then opens up to black cherry fruit with a hint of white pepper spice. On the palate, the wine tastes of blackberry fruit with hints of ruby red fruit and Asian spices with subtle green tannins that evolve these flavors into a long, elegant finish. This wine had great structure, good acidity and should be cellar for a year and enjoy it for 5-7 more years.

Accolades & Awards
"A pretty, elegant, and supple Syrah, the 2009 Vie Winery Les Amours is a blend of 92% Syrah, 7% Mourvedre, and 1% Grenache, fermented with 15% whole cluster, that was aged 18 months in 33% new French oak. Showing a transparent ruby color as well as aromas of spiced red and black berries, wild herbs, pepper, and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, polished, and beautifully textured, this beauty is delicious now, yet will evolve gracefully for 7-8 years."
91 points - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate & The Rhône Report
Rich blue, black and red fruit aromas, with spice and hints of smoke and cola. Tightly-packed on the palate, with compact fruit and spices leading to a long finish. This will open well if you let it breathe.
95 points - Wine X Magazine
Sweet cherry and dried herb aromatic. Intriguing Jolly Rancher watermelon component in the nose with light cherry apparent on aeration. Cherry pie flavors on entry turning to sour cherry on the finish. Bright cherry and lively brown spice with a touch of gaminess in the mouth. Nice wine but will get better with additional bottle aging.
