2008 Belle-Amie Rosé

Santa Barbara County

Our 2008 Belle-Amie Rosé wine embraces a philosophy exhibited in this classic dry rosé made primarily from Mourvèdre, with a little bit of Grenache and Syrah. Mourvèdre based Rosé is common in France, especially in the Bandol region, but is rare in California with only two or three wineries producing one. Why are the majority of Rosé wines produced in the South of France Mourvèdre based and so few in California? It's simple – there just isn't much Mourvèdre planted in California, but it is one of the most heavily planted varietals in the South of France. We are very fortunate to be able to get Mourvèdre from the Alta Mesa vineyard to bring you this rare California Mourvèdre Rosé.
